There was one question that drove our video-mapping explorations onto a dancer: How would the dancer catch on fire? I devised a way that a box camera (concealing a mini projector) could play a part in setting her hoop skirt ablaze. But how would the “camera,” now in the hands of her creative spirit, be triggered? Our technical expert, Christopher Overstreet, came up with a way to work the projector behind the scenes, using a series of cues and NDI software. The black box theater was the perfect environment to test out our ideas and see the results, which will be a part of my exhibition “Rodin’s Photographer.”
